Two sheets from the old printer and a guest in our bed

Two sheets from the old printer and a guest in our bed

The printer kept jamming on the second page, so I stood there feeding it the same sheet three times until it finally spat out clean copies. I laid both pages on the kitchen table beside the mortgage statement and a Target mug, then called my husband in from the laundry room where he was folding towels.

“Sit down. Read. Take your time.” He wiped his hands on his jeans and sat with his palms flat on his knees. The heading was plain: Conditions. No fancy title, just room for a signature at the bottom.

I had waited a month to put anything on paper. Twice we had talked about me seeing another man and both times he answered yes too quickly. That fast yes felt like fear, not agreement, so the pages were meant to let him take the words in with his eyes instead of his pulse.

What the first sheet said

The first page gave names to things so they would not press on him unnamed. Hotwife was me, meeting other men with his full knowledge, not in secret. He would know the evening and the person.

The guest was the man I would see. He stayed outside our daily life. We would check him together, sober, and he would never hold any key.

Stag or cuckold depended on the night. The line below it read that I chose which one he became each time, sometimes pride, sometimes deliberate shame. It was my mood, not a fixed label. Vixen, the fashionable word for hotwife, went in for completeness; I don’t care for it either way.

The eight rules on the second sheet

1. Either of us can say stop at any moment and everything halts without discussion.

2. We talk the next morning over coffee, never the same night.

3. We choose the guest together; no strangers from messages.

4. All three of us share recent test results before anything happens.

5. Where he waits during the evening is my decision each time.

6. The cage stays locked until I decide otherwise.

7. When I come home the bath is ready, the bed is made, and there is tea waiting.

8. These pages can change, but only I change them.

He read the sixth rule twice, then looked up. “You won’t unlock me?” “Only when I choose,” I said. He turned the pages over, checked the backs, and finally signed. His shoulders dropped for the first time in weeks.

The first evening the guest came over

Two weeks later the guest sat at our kitchen table drinking tea while my husband poured. His hands shook a little but he kept his eyes level. The contrast was already there: one man free, the other held.

After tea I nodded and my husband led us to the bedroom, then knelt by the door with his hands on his thighs. The guest walked past him and sat on the edge of the bed. I stayed in the middle of the room.

“Undress me,” I said quietly. He rose and worked through the buttons one by one, folding each piece on the chair. When I was bare I shook my head before he could kneel again. “Stay by the bed and watch only my face.”

I lay back. The guest’s weight settled over me, solid and unhurried. His hands moved across my hips and sides while I kept my eyes on my husband. The first slow push inside felt deep and easy after months of my husband being locked. Every thrust carried its own rhythm. I could hear the guest’s breath and the sound of skin. My husband’s face stayed open, lips parted, watching.

“You’re straining,” I told him. He nodded without looking away. The guest moved faster and the wave built from inside until I came with a long breath, still holding my husband’s gaze.

Later, when the guest had gone to the shower, my husband cleaned me with his mouth and then massaged my feet. The cage was tight. “Until morning,” I said. He nodded, and I saw a small, steady pride in his eyes.

What changed

I had expected questions or jealousy in the dark. Instead he began to wait for the evenings themselves. He asked at breakfast which night I planned and came home early on those days. He started locking the cage himself and placing the key in my palm without being asked.

That first night he didn’t sleep — I could hear it — but he asked nothing; rule two. In the morning he set down coffee and said, “I thought I should feel awful all night, but I felt all right. Is that normal?” “That’s the stag part,” I told him. He laughed once, then said it felt like finding another room in the house he had never noticed before, and the light was already on inside it.

He filed the two sheets in the folder with our marriage certificate. I had not asked him to do it.
