My husband zipped the dress for my first evening

My husband zipped the dress for my first evening

My husband zipped the dress for my first evening. But he began earlier — with the stockings.

I sat on the edge of the bed, he knelt on the floor. He gathered a stocking into a roll, slipped it over my foot, smoothed it up with his palms — calf, knee, thigh — and clipped it to the garter belt. The second one the same. He has done this for years, but that evening his fingers lingered on my skin longer than they needed to, and I didn’t hurry him.

Then the underwear. He held the panties at my feet, I stood and stepped into them, and he drew them up my legs slowly, straightened the lace on my hips, ran his thumbs under the elastic so it lay flat. I didn’t help him. He was dressing me for another man, and I wanted him to feel that in his fingers — that he would not be the one taking all this off.

Then the dress. The zip down my back, then the hook at the neck, then he knelt and fastened the straps on my shoes — left, right. I stood at the mirror and looked not at myself but at the top of his head. For five years he has fastened my shoes before I go out. That evening, for the first time, I was going out to another man.

The key to his cage hung at my neck on a thin chain, under the dress. I wore it on purpose: so I would feel it on my skin all evening, and so he would see where it was going — with me.

“I’ll text at eleven. Back by one. Bath ready by half past twelve.”

“Yes, Mistress.”

His voice was steady. His hands were not. I took them, held them until they stopped shaking, and left.

The ride

I’ll be honest, because I rarely lie on this blog: I wasn’t sure I wanted it. I was sure I wanted to find out. Those are different things, and the whole first time rests on the second one.

We chose the guest together, over two months. My husband liked that he was bigger, calmer, and never once wrote me anything with an exclamation mark. I liked that he asked what our rules were and argued with none of them.

In the taxi I thought about something simple: what I would say if I didn’t like it. Then I realised I would say “stop”, and that would be all. Rule one works on me too.

At his place

He opened the door, didn’t kiss me, took my coat. The wine stood on the table and we never touched it. We sat, he talked, and I listened and waited for the familiar thing — for him to ask permission. At home they always ask: may I come closer, may I touch, may I take this off.

He didn’t ask. He simply put his hand on my knee, under the hem, and left it there. I felt something inside clench and let go at once. For five years no one had touched me without a command. I allowed it — and that was my decision, not his.

He undid the dress standing behind me. The hook, the zip, the same one. The fabric slid down and the chain with the key lay on my bare chest, cold. He took the key in his fingers and looked at me, a question.

“That isn’t for you,” I said, and took the chain off myself. Put it on the nightstand, key facing me. The only thing I took off myself that evening.

He pulled his shirt off over his head in one movement, and I looked — not furtively, but the way I look at a thing I have chosen. Broad shoulders, a back twice the width of his waist, a dense chest, a hard stomach with the kind of definition a month in a gym doesn’t draw. Veins on the forearms, big hands, and in all of it the calm of a body used to strain and used to being looked at. My husband is lean and light, and I love that: he is easy to put on his knees. Here stood a man you couldn’t put on his knees. I wasn’t going to try.

The bed was wide and he was heavy. That is the first thing I remember: weight. I am used to keeping my husband under me — kneeling, at my feet, light and obedient. Here a man lay on me who was in no hurry at all, and under that weight I wanted not to command but to breathe.

He entered me slowly and I heard my own sound — low, unfamiliar. Nothing between us: no steel, no lock, no permission of mine for every inch. His palms were wide, he held me by the hips and moved the way he wanted — and I caught myself allowing him that the same way I allow my husband to kneel. The only difference is who is allowed what. The power hadn’t gone anywhere. It had simply stopped being work.

“Slower,” I said, once. He slowed. That was enough to remember who I am.

The first time I came with my eyes open, looking at the key on the nightstand. The second, with my face in his shoulder, thinking of my husband: that he was looking at the clock right now, and that the steel on him was especially tight right now. That thought is what took me over.

At eleven I wrote: “All good. Home at one.” The reply came four seconds later: “Bath at half past. Tea. Waiting.” No questions. Rule two.

Home

Ten to one. He opened before I had my keys out — he had been standing in the hall, listening for the lift. He knelt and undid the straps on my shoes: left, right. Then he stood to undo the dress, and I saw him breathe in. I carried another man’s smell — cologne, sweat — and he caught it. His hands stopped on the zip for half a second. Then went on.

“The bath can wait,” I said. “Bedroom.”

The bed was made, as I had ordered — smooth, not a single crease. I lay down on top of the cover, in my stockings, and opened my legs. He went down on the floor by the bed, between my knees — his place.

“Clean him off me. All of it.”

He understood. His tongue went along the inside of my thigh, where the skin was still wet, then higher — slowly, thoroughly, the way he polishes my shoes: missing nothing. I could feel him breathe in between strokes — another man’s smell mixed with mine — and he didn’t turn away from it, he gathered it with his lips. It wasn’t good the way it had been with the guest. It was good in a different way: here lies a woman someone has just come home to, and here is a man at her feet doing what she needs and asking nothing. Five years I built this. That night it held the weight.

When nothing of the other man was left on me, I took the vibrator from the nightstand and put it in his hand.

“Hold it. Here. Don’t move.”

He held it where I told him and looked at my face — the way I taught him. I came a third time that evening, looking down at him: not from his tongue, from the vibrator in his hand. His job was to clean up after the guest. The pleasure I took myself. He didn’t take his hand away until I moved it.

“Now the bath.”

He asked nothing more. The bath was already drawn; he checked the water with his hand, and while I lay in it he sat on the floor beside me, back against the tub, silent. I wet his hair with my palm. Not as a reward — as a fact: I came back.

“You want to ask.”

“I do. In the morning.”

I didn’t take the key off for the night. He noticed — I saw his eyes rest on the chain — and said not a word. He fell asleep like that, face to my shoulder, locked.

Morning

Over coffee he asked one thing:

“What was the strongest part?”

“The weight. No one has pressed me into a bed for a long time.”

He nodded and was quiet for a long while. Then he said the thing I am writing this post for:

“All night I waited to feel bad. I didn’t feel bad. You left for him — and came back to me. And I understood that you are more mine than you were yesterday morning.”

I unlocked him that day only in the evening. Not because he had earned it. Because I wanted to see what he was like after that night. He was very quiet and very quick, and afterwards he handed me the key himself.
